February's Message from the ER
I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. Just another reminder that nominations will be accepted for Lodge Officers and Trustees at our Lodge Meeting on February 2nd with balloting on February 16th.
Also, all delinquent members who have not paid their 2009-2010 dues by March 31st will not be permitted use of the club, either as a member or as a guest per Grand Lodge Statutes.
Congratulations goes to Kim Mains for her Elk of the Year award. Kim has been our adult and childrens' entertainment committee chairperson for many years, recently stepping down from the adult position. She has also been very active in our Flag Day Ceremony, Memorial Service, Halloween Parade, and various other activiities. Thank you, Kim, for all your time and talents.
Congratulations also goes out to Charlie Beard and Jim Tingle for their Grand Lodge Certificate in Outstanding Service. Jim and Charlie have been instrumental in co-chairing our Veterans and Voice of Democracy Committees.
There is a phrase that is read during our initiations: "As this flag is first in our hearts as loyal Americans, so is it close to our altar as loyal Elks". Every time I hear this phrase it reminds me of the hard work and devotion of Jim and Charlie, in the education of our youth and assistance to our veterans. These three truly exemplify the motto of the Elks.
